Renowned playwright, Uncle Ebo Whyte, has encouraged Ghanaians to endeavour to face their fears in whatever situations they find themselves in.
He said this in a Facebook post today, July 20, on the occasion of his 68th birthday. Uncle Ebo said he was made redundant at age 46 and he and his family had to endure hard times.
Read below the full text of the celebrated playwright as he shared it on Facebook:
I was made redundant at age 46 and because I run a single-income home, we were hit hard. And that’s when I decided to work in my area of gifting rather than my areas of training.
So at age 46, with no job, I started life all over again. On this occasion of my 68th birthday, with almost 48 plays written and produced under my belt, allow me to share the key pillars I’ve held onto and still hold onto.
1. Have faith in God. Not in yourself. Not even in your circumstances or what has been. God knows what He’s doing and He is faithful. If He gave the vision, He’ll make the provision.
2. Have courage. It takes courage to step out, not having anything to count on and to throw your certificates away like I did.
3. Learn to face your fears. Fear is not reason enough to give up. Face the fear.
4. Learn that failure is useful. It’s God’s way of pruning us and keeping our feet on the ground. So that when His abundance comes, we’ll remain humble. It makes you dig deeper in God, makes you give up your petty dreams and lean on His will.
5. Nothing is wasted.
The Statistics I studied isn’t wasted.
The Accounting I studied isn’t wasted.
The things I sold – Money, cars, medicine are not wasted.
Nothing is wasted.
6. Don’t listen to nay sayers. God didn’t consult anyone when He was creating you nor when He was giving you the vision.
7. Learn to serve
When God calls you and has not opened the door for you yet, serve others whose doors have been opened. Serve without any expectation of money. Usually, you can’t get into your destiny without serving others.
8. Be loyal to those God raises to help you.
Yes, there may be a time when you may not need your helper again but be loyal to them even at that time.
9. Always make it about God. It’s not about you, it’s about God.
10. Work hard. Work insanely hard!!!!!
