For 37 years and counting, Mary Nyamewah, alias Old School, has dedicated her life to shaping and nurturing the lives of young ones. Currently the headteacher of Avorcity Basic School in the Ga South Municipality, Madam Mary continues to impact the lives of many.
Before her transfer to Avornyo, the community of her current job, Old School taught in the Volta Region, where she left a good mark too.
In a chit-chat with AwodaPa, Old School expressed her delight in her direct investment in the well-being of the teeming youth who have gone through her hands.
She said: “Though I am not the richest headteacher or teacher, I am so proud to see most of our wards, who were hopeless and devastated in their early days, now solving our [various communities’] problems and creating a conducive environment for us all.”
The ‘young’ but experienced headteacher is not only religious and dedicated to her profession but also a loyal Christian of the Roman Catholic, Ashalaja branch. Her exceptional lifestyle made her one of the front runners of All Saints Catholic Church Mother of the Year this year.
Old School, as she preferred to be called by her colleagues, has served God, and her country wholeheartedly. Today, May 19th marks the birthday of this formidable human. Happy glorious birthday, Old School, from me, Solomon Annan – Abi Solo , your former employee.
