Reggae musician and teacher, Asare-Addo Paul, has given “thanks and praises to Jah” on the occasion of getting a year older today, May 15.
Asare-Addo, popularly known in music circles as Picoshanty, teaches Integrated Science at the Ashalaja M/A 1 Basic School in the Greater Accra Region.
“Today, we celebrate a teacher, musician, and journalist, Asare-Addo Paul. Paul is one of the most passionate personalities I have ever encountered in this journey of life. He is a young, exuberant man who is multi-talented in different domains. Sir Paul, as his colleagues and learners fondly call him, is a professional facilitator who has served the Ghana Education Service (GES) for the past decade,” colleague teacher, Solomon Annan, who teaches French, told AwodaPa.
“Picoshanty’s records, by far, in my opinion, make him the most influential and successful science teacher to have ever taught at the Ashalaja M/A 1 Basic School. Apart from Paul’s tactful execution of his task, his love, passion, and care for the welfare of his learners and colleagues are unimaginable.”
Mr Annan said that aside from Picoshanty’s busy schedule of delivering in the classroom, he makes time to hit the studios to record good music for his followers, Ghanaians and the world at large. “He has some great songs to his credit, and he has collaborated with some renowned artists in the industry. “Songs like ‘Crying for Peace,’ ‘Dress Like an African,’ ‘Abiba ft. Braish,’ ‘Why Me ft. Wes10bone,’ and ‘Bloodless Revolution ft Andrew Robinson’ make his musical repertoire enviable,” Solomon Annan observed.
He said the reggae musician also doubles as a journalist, writing and reporting on human interest stories. “Pico is also a practicing journalist who attained his training from the prestigious Ghana Institute of Journalism. He loves to tell the stories of others and also makes meaningful contributions to state development,” he said.
In a short video sent to AwodaPa, the musician sings himself a beautiful birthday song, thanking Jah for adding another year to his age.
